We recognise that our activities have health and safety implications. Managing health and safety is a top priority issue for us – whether this relates to the Heath and Safety of our staff, our clients or the public.

Our health and safety objectives given in our Policy Statement are:

Environmental

We believe that everything we do affects the environment, as such we are committed to managing these activities that give rise to impacts upon the environment. Irish Tunnelling Ltd. is ISO 14001:1996 accredited and this management system is used as a cornerstone for continuous environmental improvement throughout the company. We measure our performance through audit and environmental indicators and use feedback to improve our methods of work.

On site, compliance with environmental legislation and other environmental requirements, including those of our clients is our minimum requirement and provides the foundation upon which we manage our activities. We provide our staff with the skills and knowledge to identify, assess and manage the environmental and social issues associated with site work.

Quality & Training

Our intention is to provide clients with a quality of service and construction that ensures complete satisfaction. We are striving to improve standards continually, and set ourselves targets to be embraced by all employees.

We view people as our investment. To maximise the return on this investment we have a policy of training and continuous development. This is achieved by developing an understanding of each person’s strengths and key skills. From this understanding we ascertain each individual’s needs and introduce specific training and development programmes.

The company has developed and implemented a integrated management system (ISO 9001:2000) which ensures that we can meet our clients requirements on time, every time, from the initial design stage through to project completion.

The end result being that a quality team deliver a quality service to the satisfaction of our clients.

Partnering

Irish Tunnelling Ltd. fully embraces the concept and principles of partnering and regularly uses this management process with effective results.  We are involved is several partnering style procurement processes, each typically five year partnering framework agreements e.g. DRD Water Service N.I.

All contracts under the framework being executed on a transparent cost basis with each activity being benchmarked to measure continuous improvement. Partnering, in several different formats, accounts for an ever-increasing proportion of our order book. In simple terms we define partnering as a commitment by both parties to a long-term relationship based on mutually agreed objectives to strive for world class capability and competitiveness.
